Rise Up! Keep Moving...

The hike is hard . . . the trail winding . . . the trek long...

The Key to Life is to Keep Moving.

Life is hard. I wish I could wake up in the morning and see the sunrise without pain. I know many in this world wish they could do the same. But life takes no prisoners. It offers no quarter. In other words, what you see is what you get. No concessions, no cheats.

But is it always this way? After all, life can't be this bad. There has to be a way to get out of it. "You can't leap to assumptions." Not everyone has your problems." "I don't live where you do." I've heard these words from many people. I've had the same thoughts myself. I discovered however that no matter how much we'd love it not to happen, time goes on. The world keeps turning. And pain is an integral part of life.

Psalm 59:1 "Deliver me from my enemies, O my God; Set me securely on high away from those who rise up against me."

Wyoming is not really that special, is it? It's just a square state in the Rocky Mountain Region. Now I know some believe we live in the past in this state, and truth be known, we are about six months to a year behind the times (especially if you want to see a movie at a theater.) But the 1800's? Really? The truth of the matter is we're as contemporary as any other state in the Union. But if it were yesterday, six months, a year, or two-hundred years ago, Wyomingites wouldn't be exempt from the pain life brings even if our setting is more...desirable in some areas.

Shall I describe what life is like here for you? On one side of the coin, we have beautiful scenery like the Grand Tetons, Yellowstone National Park and Devils Tower, complete privacy, and amazing wildlife...wow, a paradise on earth! But let's flip that coin over. We find isolation in the nastiest weather known to man, few sources of advanced healthcare, very low populations, and wild, hungry animals like bears and mountain lions that want to eat us...wow, not such a paradise huh? But then again, as I said before, life is hard.

For some reason, I don't think Wyoming is alone in that assessment. I believe life is hard...everywhere. Maybe not in the same way, but hard.

Did God promise it would be easy for me? Not that I'm aware of. However, He did send Someone to help me through it. He also sent an Example to follow when the going gets tough, tougher, and then outright unbearable. But in the end, He left the choice to me. I can decide whether I will yield or stand fast to life's challenges. To worry or release those cares to Him. And I determine whether I fall or rise up!

God gives me His strength to face anything. With it, I can conquer my fear, trials, and life's obstacles along the way. With His power in hand, it's possible to move forward, but only if I rise to my feet in His Son's Name.

So, what's your decision? What mountain stands in your path? Will you rise up with Jesus and conquer? Or will you yield and fall?

Isaiah 54:10 "For the mountains may be removed and the hills may shake, But My lovingkindness will not be removed from you, And My covenant of peace will not be shaken," Says the Lord who has compassion on you.

Don't let the cares of this world stop you in your tracks, beat you down and keep you staring at a piece of rock in defeat. Stay on the trail. Keep walking. The key to this life is to keep moving and with Jesus, the mountains will move. They will crumble into dust, and you can dance on the rubble.

The first step? Rise up!

And then? Keep moving.

After that? Never give up.
