Linda Weaver Clarke's on the Coffee Corner (with E-Book Giveaway)

The Coffee Corner Welcomes

Linda Weaver Clarke

Welcome back to Inspirational Moments. I know it's been a while but I have great news! I'm well on my way to 100%! It's been quite the road to recovery but God is good. All the time. To celebrate, the Coffee Corner brings you Linda Weaver Clarke this week. She's also giving away some e-books! Check out the details after the interview, but for now, let's get to the interview, shall we?

Renee: Hi there, Linda, welcome to the Corner. I'm excited to have you here. What can you tell us about your Rebel series? What makes it special or unique?

Linda: The Rebel Series is a Period Romance and consists of 3 stories: The Rebels of Cordovia, The
Highwayman of Cordovia, and The Fox of Cordovia. This series is unique for me because it is completely different from what I usually write. It was inspired by the stories of the American patriots who fought to be free from the dictatorship and tyranny of a wicked king. I wanted to create a story about a people who wanted the same thing. Each story has its own plot and can be read separately but it should be read in order so you can see how the people deal with their new found freedom. Liberty is a subject that is very dear to me. Each time I hear the Star Spangled Banner or pledge allegiance, my tears well up for gratitude that I live in a land of freedom.

Renee: This series sounds amazing. I'm a patriot as well. I bet it will touch every patriot's heart who reads it. I wonder, how do you decide upon a subject and find time to do your research?

Linda: After I've decided upon a subject, I have so much fun searching for a certain subject. For example, I learned that the waltz was introduced in the 1700's but many people would not accept it because they felt it was "riotous and indecent." It wasn't until a Russian ambassador endorsed that it was accepted in certain countries. I also learned that lamplighters were chosen carefully because they also acted as night watchmen and they needed to be trustworthy. In The Fox of Cordovia, they make their getaway in a pirate ship, so I had to research what pirate ships were like and what was inside such a ship so I could describe it adequately. I love research.

Renee: I love it! Well, since we're talking about writing, let's keep going, how long have you been writing and why did you start?

Linda: Since 2005, about 12 years. I have 22 books published. I have always enjoyed writing, but it wasn't until I was putting together my grandparents and ancestors' stories that actually got me started. When I was done, I couldn't stop writing and turned to fiction. I have taught writing classes for over ten years, teaching people how to write their family history or autobiographies.

Renee: Wow, it sounds like you found your calling, no matter what kind of writing it was. God is so good, isn't He? Let's turn back to your series, what the favorite part of your books and why?

Linda: In each of my books in this series, the romance between the two main characters has always been one of my favorite scenes. All my books are family friendly, so the romance is always clean with sweet delectable kisses. In The Fox of Cordovia, Jesse is totally enamored with Caroline but he is holding back for one reason. He was once a hero, known as The Fox of Cordovia, during the revolt. That was 2 years ago. Now since he's an ordinary guy, he's afraid she thinks of him as that hero and not who he is right now. So her duty is to let him know that she has fallen for Jesse Conover, not The Fox.

Renee: Your stories sound positively amazing. I can't wait to read all of them! I know everyone else can't either. On a personal note, do you have any hobbies or thinks you like to do when you aren't working?

Linda: I love spending time with my children and husband. I love going on road trips with them or just vacationing somewhere fun with my family.

Renee: In closing, is there a special quote or verse which comes to you in times of need or adversity?

Linda: In Rev 3:20, it says: "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me." In this scripture, I feel as if the Lord is inviting us to talk to him and tell him about our problems. If we just talk with him and explain our difficulties, then he will comfort us and answer our prayers. In another scripture, the Lord says, "For after much tribulation, come the blessings." He just wants us to be patient in our afflictions and to go to him for wisdom and comfort.

Renee: Thank you, Linda, for being on the Coffee Corner. You are an inspiration for young and new writers. May the Lord bless you in your continued endeavors.
