Climb That Mountain
The Grand Tetons
The peak stands high
above the timberline, its rocky surface glistening in the early morning sun. Glaciers
of white cut different paths down the mighty massif leading to an encircling
blanket of trees. Peace and tranquility abound.
Are you searching
for a little peace in your life? Looking for that tranquil place to lay your
head? Or are you on that trek already? Are you walking or running? Maybe you’re
hanging by your fingernails as you move inch by inch toward the top.
Isaiah 27:5 Or let him take
hold of My strength, That he may make peace with Me; And he shall make peace
That’s right. The
Lord offers His strength and His peace! Look at the verse above closely. What
does it say?Think about it for a while.
For now, let’s
say you’re looking at that mountain. You want peace. You want tranquility. You’re
sick and tired of it all but don’t know what to believe anymore. Things aren’t adding
up in your little world. You search for answers but so far, nothing makes
sense. Confusion reigns and to avoid confrontation, you settle for logic or the
status quo but deep down, you yearn for the truth.
Or maybe you’re hiking through the forest,
picking your way through the underbrush, fallen logs, and across the creeks.
You want peace. You want tranquility. You’re dirty and hungry. The next bend is
only another trial and you grow weary, wondering if you will ever see the path
to the peak. You started this journey with the thought, “I got this!” and now
realize that you can’t continue. You yearn for strength
How about the
climber on the mountainside? Peace and tranquility is in your grasp. You made
the decision to start this trek, knowing it was a hard journey. You braved the dense forest with its animals
and terrain. Now you hang by your fingers and toes as the wind buffets your
body and look for another good hold to propel you closer to your destination.
With shredded knuckles, you yearn for power.
2Samuel 22:33-24 God is my
strength and power, And He makes my way perfect. He makes my feet like the feet
of deer, And sets me on my high places.
Through the almighty grace of God,
the hiker finds the strength to continue and will find the path to the
mountain! The climber discovers the power to find that next handhold and stand
on the summit! But why would they even attempt the journey? Is this God real?
Is He worth it?
Deuteronomy 32:3-4 For I proclaim
the name of the LORD: Ascribe greatness to our God. He is the Rock, His work is
perfect; For all His ways are justice, A God of truth and without injustice;
Righteous and upright is He.
Are you searching
for truth, strength, power, or peace? I know the answer. His name is Jesus.
Romans 5:1 Therefore,
having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus
So in this troubled world, if
things appear overwhelming or frightening, turn to Him. Trust Him to deal with
them and walk on. Remember to take hold of His strength to make peace with Him.
Stop fighting His will for your life and you can do awesome things! Forge
forward through the forest and climb that mountain.
Falling Rock: A Short Story Once upon a time, in a small Indian
village, a brave warrior called Falling Rock fell in love with the chief’s daughter. She returned
his love and they went before the chief to ask for permission to wed. “You
say you love my daughter. Is this true?” The old chief looked to his youngest
daughter, the most beautiful of his children. “Yes,
Father. He loves me and I love him. Please let us marry.” Her small hands
grasped his gnarly ones and he narrowed his beady eyes at the warrior. “What
do you have to offer for this union, young warrior?” He
watched as the bravery seemed to seep out of the man at his question. “I
have nothing, my chief. I do not own any animals or fancy cloth. I can offer my
service and my loyal protection.” His black eyes met the daughter’s. “To you
and yours for the rest of my days.” “I
have that already, my man. I wish you to complete me a task. If you are
successful, you will have permission to marry my daughter. Do you agree?” The

every hidden realm in the computer for my lost words.I dig into the recycle bin, the hard drives,
the documents and picture files looking for the elusive data.No bits or bytes are to be found.Strands of hair fall by my chair and unkind
words caress the ceiling.My husband
listens to the moans and groans for a little while then asks the one question
I do not want to hear.

DID I SAVE THEM?Of course, I saved them!I always
